Fred Miller, NO SWEAT Public Speaking!
Everyone’s getting on zoom these days and there’s a few things you need before you get on those meetings.
Number One: Update the software. They are always updating and you want the latest and the greatest before you get on.
Number Two: The first thing people look at is You! Be sure to have some good light on yourself and have a nice camera. Some of the older cameras are low resolution. Get one that has a high resolution and when it’s on look at it, directly at it. I have looked up more nostrils then an ear, nose, and throat doctor.
Next: We have Sound. People will watch bad video. They won’t listen to bad audio. And some of those microphones on little laptops, and you’re sitting way back, it sounds like you’re in a tunnel. Invest in a nice microphone. I like a lavalier because you can attach it to your lapel and you can set back from it.
Finally: Your Background. People have to realize we cannot multitask. If your background looks like that, they’re not looking at you. Here’s another one. Light in the background and a ceiling fan that looks like a helicopter is going to land on you. Don’t do that! And another messy one. Clutter! The rule is plain and simple. The best background like this one, is the one you don’t notice!
But that’s just the beginning!
