B INTERNET /TECHNOLOGY
In my first column on this subject, I presented the idea that everyone should build a strong EXPERT Stool. (If you haven’t read it, the Back Story to this Marketing Plan is worth the read! HERE)
The goal is to be able, when appropriate, to tell prospects, and folks who want to know more about you – GOOGLE Me!
That two word phrase, when spoken with a little “Attitude,” a little good “Attitude,” says, “There’s great stuff out there about me. Don’t take my word for it. Check me out!”
Before asking someone to, “GOOGLE Me!” You’ve got to have Googleable “Stuff.” Building a three-legged EXPERT Stool will do that!
The Three Legs are:
Speaking
Writing
Internet / Technology
This post addresses the Third Leg, INTERNET / TECHNOLOGY!
If you’re a regular reader, listened to one of my audio recordings, or seen me speak, you know I believe Speaking and Writing go hand-in-hand. People who Speak and Write well are perceived as EXPERTS. We like to work with EXPERTS!
Doing those activities is a MUST to be perceived as an EXPERT. Using the Technology of the Internet is how to let the WORLD know!
Every PRESENTATION Should be PROMOTED.
Links , and details, should be placed on your FaceBook Business Page, your LinkedIn Page, and your LinkedInGroups.
More people will be made aware of your speaking.
Google finds these, raising your name in searches.
Ask the Event Venue and Sponsor to do the same and be certain your contact information and links are in their promotions.
Email Marketing, for you, the sponsor, and venue, should be part of the plan.
Have an Event Calendar Page on your website and place all the necessary information for each Speaking Opportunity on it.
On Twitter. Tweet before and after each presentation.
After the Speaking Event, write, if allowed, a short “Thank You!” on the blogs of the Venue and Sponsor.
Every ARTICLE Should be PROMOTED.
Writing
Insert the Audio of each Post on your Blog.
Many people are auditory learners. Having the audio of each post available will help more people GET your message
An added benefit is: “Written Post + Audio Post = Better Writing and Speaking.”
Put the Audio of each of your blog posts at the top of the article.
Have it link to your iTunes Podcast Channel.
Those Articles can also be Placed on EzineArticles.com and Scribd.
Have Share and Social Media Connect Buttons on your blog.
Comments
Most Posts have a Comments Section. If you have expertise, and an opinion on a post written by someone else, place a comment.
GOOGLE finds these!
When people Comment on your Posts, Reply to what they’ve written.
If You’ve Written a Book, and it is on Amazon.com, put the event on your Author’s Central Page.
EVERYTHING ELSE Should be PROMOTED.
YouTube
On your YouTube Channel you can “Show” the audience what you want them to “See!”
If you produce PowerPoint / Keynote Presentations. . .
There are many more avenues to promote yourself I haven’t covered. Plus, there are new ones coming along all the time!
Vizify is one I recently found that consolidates many of your links allowing visitors to get a great, quick snapshot of you. Here’s Mine.
Building Your EXPERT Stool is a Process – not an Event. Once it’s built, all the legs must be continually strengthened. That’s OK because, “The Learning is in the Doing!” and your subject knowledge and credibility as an EXPERT will grow exponentially, especially when you have enough “Stuff” so you can say, to the person who wants to know more – GOOGLE Me!
