Number One – Meet and Greet.
Greet everyone as they come in.
Thank them for coming to your presentation.
It is amazing how much easier is to talk to someone you’ve already met.
Number Two – Be Audience Centered.
Easier said than done, but it’s not about you. It’s about the audience.
Focus on the audience. They came there to learn something. They are cheering for you.
No one was sitting there thinking, “I can’t wait until he messes up. I’m going to be on his Facebook page. I’ll diss him. Last time he’ll ever talk in this town.”
In fact, most of them are glad you’re up there and they’re not.
Be audience centered and the quality of your presentation will go up and your anxiety down.
Number Three – Practice – Practice – Practice.
It’s not optional.
Practice as much as you can.
The rule of thumb is: one hour of preparation for every minute of presentation.
“Practicing isn’t what you do once you’re good. It’s the thing you do that makes you good.” (Malcolm Gladwell)
